Psychic Development
Everyone is inherently psychic. The degree of your abilities depends on your commitment to development. We were born psychic but we learned to utilize only the skills needed to get our environment to respond to us. If our parents were highly visual and auditory, we would use those forms of expression. After being inundated by a society that responds basically to the five senses, most of us forgot how to exercise the psychic muscle.
At some point in everyone's life there have been what we call "strange coincidences", deja-vu, or something unexplainable has happened. Usually we dismiss them as our imagination or a lucky guess. But it is complete vanity on one's part that thinks paranormal activity and psychic abilities are not possible just because it falls outside of their own personal experience. Some people have it happen enough that the odds of "luck" start running out & they must look at the idea of having psychic abilities.
Statistically, light completed Celtic folks, are generally overly sensitive to everything. My husband often complains about my over sensitivity to smells, fabric softener, light, etc. but I remind him that that same sensitivity makes me a natural psychic. The downside comes for many sensitives when they pick up on everything. In groups they are neurotic, in personal relationships they internalize everyone else's emotions because they are empathetic, they are emotionally sensitive, and often take on the physical pain or disease of others. That is when it is critical to begin working on developing and training psychic abilities. Someone can easily go insane from that level of sensitivity. It must be controlled.
Where do you begin? You must establish an equilibrium; a firm grasp of who you are, so that you can weigh things against that. Psychic abilities should always be the by-product of one's Great Work, not the consuming goal. If you establish an equilibrium, instant discomfort warns you if there is a disturbance. This is true on every level: are you doing meditations which are right for you, are you making good decisions, is this a safe neighbourhood, is someone in my house? If there is a bump in the night & you know what you feel like, scan the house to find what does not feel like you. You have an answer whether someone has entered your house or not. If you work from an established equilibrium (your true self) you will always be working for your highest good.
there are many different types of psychic abilities... in a nut shell, some people feel, others hear, still others see, etc. Some people can do all of the things I listed. But to get started, you need to determine which is your strongest trait. Work on that & worry about the others later. One thing I would caution you against is developing mind reading. That does you no good whatsoever. Let's say you want to find out the truth about a situation. You may only be able to figure out what others "think" about something, not the reality of a situation. Or if you wish to do a reading on a friend, all you will do is tell them something they already know.
Learning to turn your abilities on & off is critical. Often intuitives can get very sick or tired from not being able to disconnect from their subject. The best way to learn to turn off your abilities is to learn how to turn them on. You do this by practicing your most dominant psychic ability. Work with a deck of cards trying to predict the next card, give your friends readings, etc. The book "You Are Psychic" has a number of good exercises.
At first it may be highly frustrating & you may see little to no success. Do not be discouraged. You are used to working only with your 5 senses. You will not have bright vivid visions, hear words or messages like someone talking in the room, or have a feeling that bangs you over the head.
The psychic senses work on a very subtle level. Visions are not colourful; they often look as clear as cellophane which has been dropped before your face. Voices often sound like words resonating from deep in your head. It can be very difficult at first to distinguish the psychic words from the garbage rolling around in your mind. Rarely can you make something move at will. It is only when you have a sudden burst of emotion fuelled by psychosexual energy that you can get matter to move. And that is rarely on demand. So do not get discouraged. It is all very subtle. But the more you work on establishing your equilibrium, the more you will be able to distinguish psychic imprints from garbage thoughts. Again, establishing your equilibrium is the key.
Something else you can do once you have established your equilibrium is to work more intuitively with your body. For example, hold herbs, food or an aromatherapy bottle in hand and ask, "do I need this?" You will know the answer. The response comes in a different form depending on you abilities... maybe you will hear "yes", or feel a tingle in your hand if it is "yes", or see the word "yes" drop before your eyes. You can use the same technique in decision making. Take your options and see how they align with your equilibrium. Do you feel strangely about something, or does it make a nice fit?
Don't fall into the junk food trap. Often after working on psychic issues you will have a craving for sweets. That is a huge misdiagnosis. Potassium is the only radioactive element in the body. Therefore it is drawn out by electrical stimulus. Ahead of time eat something high in potassium such as a banana. If you are experiencing the feeling afterwards, you need to replenish your body's electrolytes. I recommend having some Gatorade, or pick up some electrolyte replenishers at the health food store. Also try some apple juice. It is important to ingest it slowly or the body will not be able to metabolize it properly & you will crave more. I also recommend not eating large meals immediately before or after psychic work, and to reduce your intake of sweets or your blood sugar will be off.
